Early morning road ride to Dunstable Downs. To learn some new routes I programmed my Foretrex 201 with the route, it works really well - indicating where turns are, the only limitation is that when you are going fast down a stretch at more than 25mph it is a bit late to indicate the turn. Also it is limited to 30 waypoints for some reason, so you have to be choosy about which ones to put in. I mark the route on MemoryMap, then upload it using G7towin.

The Downs are a nice climb up to 800 feet, which takes about 2 miles to achieve, so you don't need very low gears. On my road bike the wheel I used had a lowest of 42 x 18 on it - er not a low gear at all. The weather was damp, but as I descended the sun came out and I could hear a bit of wind in the trees. Tomorrow looks good for a session at the lake, plus I need to go to pick up my tickets for Dahab next week.

Just under 50 miles in 2:30. I was well chuffed with that!
